The Drovers Inn

Just spent two nights here....and it was a nice surprise returning after 35 years to find it was much the same and hadn't been ripped out and modernised. Beautiful setting and great ambience. The staff ( particularly Ben and Morven ) were all very nice to us and happy to help us in any way they could to have an enjoyable stay. The food unfortunately was a let down .... Nice full Scottish breakfast - piping hot and the haggis was AMAZING. Lack of toast and butter which should be a must . You will say we could have asked for more but the poor girl serving breakfasts looked so run off her feet we were reluctant to bother her. Maybe put more staff on at breakfast time ? Every other dish we had was a disappointment, lacking in flavour and seasoning. The burger was frankly tasteless and so was my husband's steak pie. The vegetables were absolutely undercooked/steamed ( not "al dente."...... just hard ). Those silly cheap sauce sachets were beyond annoying....( goodness me just get proper Hellmans and Heinz bottles on the tables ! ) The place was packed out and I'm sure the business is doing well so.... you just need to pay attention to the little touches which really do make all the difference. So all in all - an enjoyable stay and we had a good time but some room for improvement.

Cracking atmosphere in the pub. Very busy. Lovely wine. Husbands beer was good. Staff were incredibly warm and friendly. And they allow motor homes and vans to stay in their carpark if using the Inn. Downside was toilets not pleasant, staff run off their feet. They disappeared at one point and we waited over ten mins for someone to return to the bar. It's a great location for stopping off on way to the Highlands and would use again. I'd try to avoid a Friday evening though.

Old, quirky and fantastic. Came here 30 years ago and stayed outback in our T2. Been back a few times since too. Back again in our T6 this time and fortunately the place is exactly the same. Warm welcome, great menu and tons of character in the place. Sadly the fire wasn't lit but the place comes alive when it's on. Lovely location too but worth traveling to if you aren't passing. Food looked really good, the triple brownie was incredible. Carpark to the rear which is a good size. Call, you won't be disappointed.
